Located conveniently on Metairie Road, this cozy eatery serves up an impressive menu bursting with flavor and local flair, designed to satisfy both casual diners and food enthusiasts alike.

From the moment you step inside, Bears PoBoys envelops you in a warm, welcoming atmosphere, where friendly staff greet you with a genuine "hey y'all," setting the tone for an authentic Louisiana dining experience. Although the exterior may seem understated, the vibrant energy and mouthwatering aromas inside quickly make you forget the unassuming facade.

The menu highlights an irresistible variety of poboys and specialty burgers, alongside unique appetizers and hearty salads. Signature dishes such as the Roast Beef Sandwich — tender, seasoned roast beef piled high on fresh bread — and the iconic Ferdie Poboy Dressed echo the rich culinary traditions of the area. Don’t miss the Nola Burger, a standout creation layered with savory roast beef debris and melted Swiss cheese, or the Magnum Burger, which perfectly combines Bear's BBQ sauce with grilled ham and sautéed onions for a symphony of smoky and tangy flavors.

Appetizers at Bears PoBoys are crave-worthy in their own right. The famous Homemade Onion Rings are a fan favorite, boasting a crispy, golden-brown crust that gives way to sweet, tender onion inside—accompanied by the house-made Creamy Creole Italian sauce that elevates every bite. The Gravy Cheese Fries are decadently topped with roast beef debris and layers of cheddar and Swiss, creating a savory indulgence perfect for sharing. Equally tempting are the Fried Jalapeno Pepper Rings and Fried Dill Pickles, delivering the perfect balance of heat and tang.

Salads like the Maui Salad, bursting with grilled chicken, roasted pecans, sundried cranberries, and mandarin slices, offer a refreshing alternative while still showcasing the kitchen’s flair for flavor combinations. For those wanting variety, the Surf N Turf and the adventurous Gator and Sausage Poboy add a creative edge that is uniquely Louisiana.

Visitors appreciate the genuine attention to quality and authenticity. Reviewers like Matt Shamp rave, "Get. The. Onion. Rings." emphasizing that while food may take a bit longer due to being made fresh to order, the wait is unquestionably worth it. Brad Massey highlights the friendly, conversational staff and the crave-worthy gravy cheese fries, onion rings, and various poboys that left him ordering takeout to enjoy later. Rhonda Alexandra further speaks to the authentic experience, noting their repeated visits and the delight of enjoying juicy sandwiches that demand plenty of napkins—a true hallmark of a classic PoBoy.

Parking may be a bit limited during peak times, but the atmosphere, food quality, and heartfelt service more than compensate for a minor inconvenience. Get. The. Onion. Rings. I got the Ferdie, wife got the shrimp both were great. The food did take a little longer than expected to come out, but you can tell it's made to order. It was worth the wait. Staff was friendly and conversational. Parking was a little difficult, but it was also lunch time.

Roast beef poboy was good. Didn't have all that brown gravy. They use au jus which to me taste like season beef broth. I will try the sausage and alligator poboy next time

The outside of the building is unassuming, but inside is amazing. Staff is super friendly with a hey yall greeting. Started with the gravy cheese fries, continued with the onion rings and then the roast beef and fried shrimp poboy. Had to order more to go!! So good. Height recommend

We wanted to try a new to us poboy place and Bears kept coming up on lists of the best, so we decided to give it a try. The parking is kind of difficult. You have to park under the bridge, and it's a free for all. Luckily, we found a spot. We went at opening and got a table easily. The service here is terrific. We told them it was our first visit and they were so happy to have us. By the time we left, it was a full house and I really thinj the service is a big part of that. The restaurant itself is small but cute, clean and comfortable. I got the roast beef poboy which was tender and delicious. My friend got an oyster poboy and let me try it. Holy smokes! Do it. Order it. The oysters were so big and tasted divine! Just a top tier poboy all the way. But the onion rings. OMG. The best. Light, crispy, and so many! All in all, it was a fantastic meal. Definitely will be back!

We had the debris fries, it is a large portion and delicious. My wife had the roast beef poboy and I had the shrimp. Both were good but my shrimp were a little tough(overcooked). Everything was hot and fresh.

The poboy was good, the onion rings were a little greasy. A little pricey though. Nice small town type atmosphere. I'd return if I'm in the area again.
